Vlora Marina, a pioneer of a new industry
Albania has attracted significant international attention in recent years, as evidenced by an almost sixfold increase in the number of foreign visitors over the past decade. This growing interest has intensified the need to upgrade existing infrastructure and develop new, modern projects, particularly in sectors with high development potential.
The maritime industry is among the sectors that have historically required substantial investment and sustainable development projects. However, according to the prestigious international magazine Marina World, which has dedicated a special article to Albania, the country has made meaningful progress in this field as well.
The article highlights Vlora Marina, a visionary development considered a pioneer of a new industry, expected to bring Albania its first world-class marina—one capable of competing with Europe’s most renowned marinas.
Vanova Strakosha, Program Manager, emphasised the project’s importance not only for the city of Vlora but for the entire region during her interview with the magazine:
“The vision is for Vlora Marina to become a Mediterranean reference point, combining contemporary design, high-level hospitality, and Albanian identity. This project will elevate the perception of both the city and the country, regionally and internationally.”
The marina itself has been designed by the British-Turkish firm ARTI Proje and is expected to be the first development of its kind in Albania, featuring over 400 berths for yachts and mega-yachts up to 50 meters in length.
Collaboration with top-tier international consultants serves as a guarantee that the highest standards will be met across every element of the project—from core materials and technical infrastructure to the overall visitor experience.
A key role in this process has also been played by D-Marin, the world-renowned marina management network operating across the Mediterranean and the Middle East. D-Marin has supported the Vlora Marina project with technical expertise and professional consultancy for its infrastructure. Speaking to Marina World, D-Marin experts noted that Albania’s nautical potential, combined with high-quality infrastructure, creates genuine opportunities to position the country on the international map of nautical tourism.
According to them, collaboration with the project team has been a highly positive experience, as the focus on quality and the development of a harmoniously integrated complex—combining residential spaces, recreational areas, and the marina—fully aligns with D-Marin’s philosophy.
The project also includes a residential complex designed to combine modern comfort with traditional values, remaining true to the Mediterranean lifestyle. The buildings are characterised by generous spaces and large façades that allow abundant natural light and panoramic views of the sea, the marina, or Kaninë Castle, offering a lifestyle closely connected to nature and the surrounding environment.
Vlora Marina has been conceived to foster a strong sense of community, providing all essential services within the development, recreational facilities, children’s entertainment areas, and a seaside promenade featuring a full range of hospitality and service units.
